UPDATED March 3, 2019
NOTE NEW TIME FOR REHEARSALS ON SCHEDULE PAGE.
The Singer Band of Mechanicsburg, PA is an all-volunteer concert band, based near Harrisburg in Central Pennsylvania. The band was originally known as the Keystone Band but changed its name to the Seventh Pennsylvania Voluntary Infantry Band when its members joined the service during the Civil War.
After the war, the band reorganized under the direction of David Singer and became the Singer Cornet Band. This is the early history of one of the oldest town bands in Central Pennsylvania. For more information about our past, please visit our History Page.
Membership is open to all musicians who enjoy playing brass, woodwind and percussion instruments. We rehearse, or play concerts weekly, as noted on our Schedule page. Musicians of all ages who can play band music at the high school-graded level are encouraged to join us.
Concerts are open to the public unless noted otherwise on our Schedule Page.
The repertoire of the The Singer Band consists of a variety of styles, including big band standards, marches, show tunes, popular hits, novelty numbers, and classical favorites.
NEW MEMBERS WELCOME - Contact our Manager, Linda Glantz, at 717 579-8924 to find out where we are rehearsing and sit-in on a rehearsal. Current experience we would like to see is the ability to play band instruments at a High School performance level but all playing levels are welcome.
The Singer Band is supported by the Mechanicsburg Recreation Board.
